It seems to have become very cold very quickly. We all know what this usually means - time to get a new winter coat. I can't stop myself from going into Zara these days - they're my favourite shop at the moment.  They have gorgeous stuff especially their coats - very on trend with studs, leather and lots of black, navy, grey and khaki. 

I'm also loving the blazer coat which seems to be everywhere - not sure how warm this would keep you as it doesn't close in the front but it's gorgeous. 

Unfortunately I will have to wait until the winter sales are on as they all seem to be pretty pricey starting from €150. However just like shoes, a girl can never have too many coats...

For about a year I thought there was something wrong with my computer screen at work until a colleague said I should probably get my eyes tested. But I was only in my early 30's? I couldn't possibly need glasses? Well, it turns out I had one eye shaped like a rugby ball and the other like a soccer ball so I got glasses. Since it was my first pair I got a pretty plain pair - small with thin frames. They are too small for my eyes and I am sick of looking at the top of the frame so I want to get a new pair. 

But...which colour to go for...tortoiseshell brown or plain black? Or should I go completely crazy and get a pair of these?

The problem with picking glasses is finding an opticians who will leave you alone long enough for you to try some on. I always find they end up handing me frames by Chanel, Tom Ford, Ray Ban and every overpriced designer in the shop. It's very frustrating. Funny enough though one of them did say black frames suited me best...I think I'm going to go for the black frames.

I'm sorry for my lack of posts lately but it has been a very busy month for me. I will try to post more often if I can but forgive me if I only manage one a week for the next while.

The XX are back with their second album at last. I don't think it's as good as the first one - the songs are much slower and there aren't enough guitar solo's but it does have a couple of good tracks like this one.

At the Italian wedding of my very good friend Sarah to her sweetheart Mark they held a BBQ in the grounds of the hotel the night before for all the guests. It was held around the swimming pool while the night crickets kept us entertained with their wonderful songs. 

I wore a long black skirt from Zara and was going to pair it with a grey t-shirt but instead wore a yellow one...why am I doing a post with a grey shirt you ask - just to show you how else you could pair it!

The more I listen to this song the more I love it. I always end up dancing around the kitchen/bedroom/bathroom to it.

Emmys Go Yellow

I always love watching the Oscars especially the red carpet to see which actress got it "wrong" in the eyes of the media....usually these are the ones I think got it right...remember Bjork's swan dress? I thought it was fab.

I just find some of the dresses are so boring and I'm not a fan of those who play it safe...give me quirky any day. 

So, after looking at the pictures from the recent Emmy Awards I think alot of the dresses were once again quite boring but I did notice how many actresses wore yellow. Yay for them! Yellow is one of my favourite colours and can sometimes be a difficult colour to wear but these all got it right on the night.

Italian Wedding

We were at a wedding recently in the beautiful town of Arezzo in Tuscany of one of my best friends from South Africa. It was an amazing couple of days spent with friends we hadn't seen in a long time. The venue was beautiful, the food was incredible and well the bride, groom and guests weren't too shabby either! The only complaint is that the time goes too quickly and before you know it you're heading home. I wore a dress from Zara.  I don't own any maxi dresses but saw this one in the sale and thought it would be perfect for a wedding in the Tuscan countryside.

Everytime I go into Lush I find it so hard to resist not eating some of their lotions and potions. They all smell so gorgeous...especially their freshly made face masks.

  

They now tell me they have a new range of luxurious hand and body lotions called Charity Pot, where "ALL proceeds (minus the VAT) go to grass root groups working in areas such as conservation, green transport, environmental issues, animal welfare and protection and human rights." 

Charity Pot is made using Fairtrade organic cocoa butter and almond oil and promises to leave skin soft and smooth...hmmm....yum. It's also quite reasonably priced at €8.95 for 95g / €16.85 for 240g. Not only will you be soft, smooth and smelling lovely but you'll also be helping some good causes.
